My journey to becoming a doula began after pregnancy and the birth of my son. Like many first-time mothers, my experience had both beautiful moments and challenging ones. I often felt overwhelmed by the amount of advice and opinions coming from everywhere—friends, family, social media, and the medical system. There was so much I didn’t know, and the birth plan I had envisioned ultimately went out the window. I chose to give birth in a hospital, and at times I found it difficult to fully trust my body and advocate for my preferences. I wanted so deeply to be a “good patient,” but I also longed for a calm, supported, and empowering birth experience. Instead, I often felt like I was navigating an unfamiliar system blindly as a first-time mother. If I didn’t ask the right questions, I missed out on vital knowledge that could have created a less traumatic birth. It was through this experience that I discovered the role of a doula—and I felt an immediate calling. I believe doula support aligns so well with my OT background and I knew I wanted to blend the two practices to create more supported, informed, and empowering birth experiences for other women who may be feeling the same uncertainty I felt.
Outside of my doula practice - I am married to Trevor and we have a son and three rescue pups that make up our family. I love spending time together and being outdoors. I am an Army Veteran and am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and Prenatal & Postpartum Coach. I am currently in my 3-year journey to certification as a Birth Doula through DONA.
I have a passion for women's health and the holistic approach to birth support. To me, birth is not a medical event, it is a deeply instinctive and transformative experience as a woman. Whatever your vision for your birth journey, I will meet you where you are at.
